A saree’s value is determined by three key sections: Border, Body, and Stole (Pallu). Each of these components contributes to the final price based on the quantity and quality of zari used.

Jacquard Sarees

  • Description: Jacquard sarees are crafted using a special weaving technique and often feature intricate patterns such as florals, paisleys, damask, or animal designs.
  • Type: Commonly found in Kanchipuram Silk Sarees.
  • Pricing:
    • Full Gold Sarees: ₹1,000–₹40,000 (High zari content).
    • Value Determination: Assessed by zari content and purity rather than visual appeal.

Border

  • Types:
    • Borders range from 0.30 inch to 12 inches wide.
    • Variants include double borders, single borders, varying border sizes, or no border.
  • Pricing Examples:
    • 2.5-inch Border (Double Side): ₹650–₹1,200.
    • 2-inch Border (Single Side): ₹350–₹450.

Body

The main portion of the saree comes in different styles:

  • Plain Sarees: No zari design; no added value.
  • Butta Designs: Zari motifs ranging from 0.20 inch to 5 inches, priced based on quantity.
  • Oosi (Zari Lines):
    • Available in Horizontal, Vertical, and Checked styles.
  • Pricing:
    • Based on zari quality and butta count: ₹500–₹1,200.

Stole (Pallu)

The Pallu is often the most decorative part of the saree, with two main varieties:

  • Jacquard Pallu: High zari content, priced ₹700–₹1,700.
  • Mutthu Seer Pallu: Less zari, priced ₹90–₹500.

Additional Notes

  • Sarees with higher zari purity and intricate designs fetch better prices.

Pricing depends on detailed evaluation by experts who consider the type, quantity, and quality of zari used.
